Enjoy to the full without feeling guilty afterwards!

10/08/2019

As soon as the sun comes out, we want to take advantage of the sunlight as much as possible! Please do so! Because one hour of daylight corresponds to 2.5 hours of artificial light!

Make sure you spend at least an hour a day outside so that the body can produce enough cortisol. A deficiency of cortisol manifests itself in fatigue and depression and moreover, a lack of daylight also stimulates the sleep hormone melatonin.

However, we do not want to disturb that pure pleasure when we feel the sun warm on our skin with the thought: "Am I not increasing the risk of skin cancer now?"

We should of course avoid unbridled sun-beating. It is therefore best to read on, so that we do not have to feel guilty afterwards.

The sun is generally good for you. RIGHT!

Sunlight stimulates the production of vitamin D, needed to absorb minerals from our diet. It is therefore important to strengthen our bones. Sun also has a positive influence on psoriasis and eczema and our mood benefits too!

A little redness in the beginning is part of it. That red changes to brown afterwards. NOT RIGHT!

Due to sun exposure, our skin produces melanin to protect. That gives us that brown tint. However, the skin turns red if there is too long exposure to the sun, due to released substances that cause the blood vessels in the underlying dermis to expand.

Those who already have a tan no longer have to rub in. NOT RIGHT!

A brown skin color protects only slightly against UV rays and can be compared to protecting a sun product with a very low factor. Tanned skin does not prevent the other harmful long-term consequences such as premature aging, wrinkles and increased risk of skin cancer. Keep lubricating is the message!

If a child is burned by the sun, it is extra harmful. UNFORTUNATELY RIGHT!

Sunburn sustained during childhood greatly increases the risk of certain types of skin cancer in later life. The most sensitive period runs up to 20 years. The more often a child has been burned during its childhood, the greater the chance that it will develop skin cancer as an adult!

You cannot tan or burn in cloudy weather. NOT RIGHT!

Clouds only block part of the sunrays. 95% of the UV rays still reach the earth. The temperature does not determine sunburn. On a cool but sunny day a fresh breeze can be very deceptive and you can burn just as well as on a very hot day!

If you use a water-resistant sunscreen, you do not have to re-rub after swimming. NOT RIGHT!

A waterproof sunscreen will stay in place better than regular sun milk, but not much of the product will remain after swimming, especially if you dry yourself afterwards. The benefit of a waterproof sunscreen is that you stay better protected in the water and during sweating. You will have to re-rub on the poolside again.

Healthy tanning does not exist. UNFORTUNATELY RIGHT!

Tanned skin has always suffered damage, and this can contribute to the formation of skin cancer in the long term. The malignant melanoma is a skin cancer that arises from the pigment cells, in other words from the brown spots on our skin. It is the most dangerous form of skin cancer.

However, enjoying the sun should definitely be possible! Just be careful. Always take a good protective sun cream or gel wherever you are. A terrace is super cozy but oh so dangerous without protection. Do not sunbathe in the heat of the day. Find the shade between 12 and 16 o'clock or wear protective clothing and a nice cap! And above all: AVOID ANY SUNBURN!

BoTh Cosmetics provides a very high-quality range of sun products from the Juliette Armand SUNFILM range. The advantage of this line is that, in addition to the revolutionary antitox technology that offers the very best protection in the market today, active ingredients are also being added that actively combat wrinkles and ensure a much better, lasting hydration compared to the more conventional solar brands.
